Intakes open for Nga Ara Pai driver mentor programme

The 10-week programmes targeting young drivers who may not have the resources to graduate through the licence system (ie. learner to restricted), starts with an initial assessment of driving ability, before volunteer mentors provide driving practice and assistance to learners.

The course requires up to 10 weeks of commitment from students and at the end (or as soon as the driving instructor sees fit), they have the ability to sit their restricted licence with a testing officer.

A vehicle is provided for the mentoring sessions at no cost to the student. The programme provides each students a copy of the road code, L Plates if required, up to 3 professional driving lessons, mentoring assistance, the user of a car and the cost of the restricted driver licence test with a local testing officer.

The total cost of the programme is $137.
