Job Description

Plant Holdings Limited produces Citrus and Feijoa fruit, has pastoral farming and mixed species forestry.

This position is well suited to someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working alone, is resourceful, and can put their hands to a wide range of tasks. The successful candidate will work on the property doing all day to day tasks, as the owner works off site.

Although advertised as a full time position, there is potential to discuss part time options.

This is a hands on position, and the right attitude is favoured over having experience in all areas.

The successful candidate will be required to perform a wide range of orchard/farm duties, many of which require a good level of fitness and health.

Required to use own initiative, plan ahead and conduct work in a safe and efficient manner, always using appropriate protective and safety measures.

The work will involve meeting deadlines for certain tasks including the monitoring and recording of time spent on those tasks.

The successful candidate will be required to supervise other staff from time to time..

Job Requirements

Some specific tasks are:

 

  1. Must be able to take instructions and complete tasks in a timely manor and as requested
  2. Need to be able to work unsupervised in a productive and proactive way
  3. Must also be able to think for themselves and find solutions to challenges
  4. Assembly and disassembly of feijoa frames
  5. Picking and packing fruit
  6. Pruning orchards and other trees
  7. Driving: both on and off road
  8. Weed control; including the use of chemicals
  9. Monitoring and recording
  10. ATV operation
  11. Tractor operationOther general roles may be required – These may include:
  12. Feeding stock
  13. Nursery work including budding, rubbing, digging
  14. Planting trees
  15. Animal husbandry
  16. General maintenance: including vehicles, machinery and farm infrastructure.The ideal candidate will take pride in the property, and use plenty of initiative; it is predominantly a sole responsibilty position, working alone. Contractors are used for the main citrus harvests, and supervision of contractors would be part of the role. Although it is stated as a full time role; part time could also be considered.
